Thruxton

Thruxton is a British racing circuit near the village of Thruxton in Hampshire in southern England, about 48 km north of Southampton. The track was built on the grounds of the former RAF Thruxton airfield from the Second World War, which also served the USAAF for D-Day operations. The first motorsport events were held in 1950, with the current main circuit established in 1968. The 3,792 m track has 12 corners and is renowned as the "Fastest Circuit in the UK" — in 1993 Damon Hill set an average speed of 237 km/h in a Williams FW15C in a demonstration run. The circuit holds FIA Grade 3 homologation and primarily hosts the British Touring Car Championship, British Superbike Championship, British Truck Racing Championship, F4 British Championship and Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain. Owing to strict noise and planning restrictions, only 12 motorsport days are permitted per year. The venue is home to the British Automobile Racing Club (BARC).

The fastest circuit in the United Kingdom — Damon Hill achieved an average speed above 237 km/h in his Williams FW15C in 1993; Church Corner is among the fastest corners in British motorsport.
