About the circuit
About the circuit
Oulton Park is a British racing circuit near the village of Little Budworth in Cheshire in north-western England. It is a true "road circuit" built in the parkland of the former Egerton family estate, unlike most modern British circuits which were built on former airfields. The track opened on 8 August 1953 and the longest configuration — the International Circuit measuring 4,332 m with 17 corners — has been in use since 1954. The circuit is renowned for its undulating terrain with blind crests and dramatic gradient changes, often compared to the Nürburgring's Nordschleife. Famous corners include Old Hall, Cascades, Island Bend and the banked Shell Oils Hairpin (11° banking — the most heavily banked corner in the UK). The circuit holds FIA Grade 3 homologation, is owned by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision and hosts the British Touring Car Championship, British Superbike Championship, British GT, GB3, GB4 and the historic Oulton Park Gold Cup. The second-longest permanent racing circuit in the UK (after Silverstone GP).
A true "road circuit" set in rural parkland with dramatic undulations and blind crests, often compared to the Nordschleife; the Shell Oils Hairpin's 11° banking makes it the most heavily banked corner in the UK; traditional home of the Oulton Park Gold Cup (since 1954).
