Snetterton Motor Racing Circuit

The Snetterton Circuit is a British racing circuit in Norfolk in eastern England, about 19 km north-east of Thetford and 30 km south-west of Norwich. The track was built on the grounds of the former RAF Snetterton Heath airfield, which served the US 96th Bomb Group during the Second World War with its B-17 Flying Fortresses. The first official races were held on 27 October 1951. The current main Snetterton 300 configuration, opened in 2011, measures 4,779 m with 12 corners and is the second-longest permanent racing circuit in the UK after Silverstone GP. Shorter Snetterton 200 (3,219 m) and Snetterton 100 (1,577 m) configurations are also available. The circuit holds FIA Grade 3 homologation and is owned by Jonathan Palmer's MotorSport Vision group. It hosts the British Touring Car Championship, British Superbike Championship, British GT and other series. In 2016 the "Montreal Hairpin" was renamed Wilson Hairpin in memory of the late British driver Justin Wilson.

The second-longest permanent racing circuit in the UK after Silverstone GP; from 1980 to 1994 hosted the UK's first 24-hour race, the Willhire 24 Hour; the Wilson Hairpin is named after Justin Wilson.
