About the circuit

Castle Combe is a British racing circuit in the village of Castle Combe in Wiltshire in south-western England, about 4 miles west of Chippenham. The track was built on the grounds of the former RAF Castle Combe airfield from the Second World War, with the first race meeting held on 8 July 1950. The circuit is 2,977 m long and has 12 corners. In 1999, two new chicanes (Bobbies and The Esses) were added following the fatal 1998 accident in which a flying wheel from Bobby Verdon-Roe's car killed a spectator at Camp Corner. The circuit is used primarily for club racing, track days and home-circuit championships; higher categories are excluded due to the strict noise nuisance order imposed in 2005. Events include the Castle Combe Saloon Car Championship and Formula Ford Championship.

Traditionally one of the fastest UK circuits with an "old-school" feel; the Avon Rise–Quarry sequence is considered one of the most demanding corner combinations in British motorsport.
