About the circuit
The TT Circuit Assen, nicknamed "The Cathedral of Speed", is a Dutch racing circuit in Assen in the province of Drenthe in the northern Netherlands. The track was built in 1955 and continues to host the Dutch motorcycle Grand Prix (Dutch TT) — the only circuit to have hosted every edition of the MotoGP Grand Prix since the championship was founded in 1949 (with the sole exception of 2020 due to COVID-19). Racing in Assen dates back to 1925, when the first Dutch TT was held on a 28.57 km public-road course. The current 4,555 m circuit was created in a major 2006 redesign and has 18 corners (12 right, 6 left) for the motorcycle configuration and 21 corners for the car version. The track is 10–14 m wide, with a 560 m main straight. It holds FIA Grade 2 homologation and hosts MotoGP, WSBK, DTM, the Supercar Challenge and other series. Capacity 110,000.
The only circuit to have hosted every edition of the MotoGP Grand Prix since the championship's founding in 1949 (except for 2020); nicknamed "The Cathedral of Speed". Only the finish line section remains from the original 1955 layout.
