About the circuit

The Nürburgring GP, officially the Nürburgring Grand-Prix-Strecke, is a modern racing circuit in the Eifel mountains in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate, built between 1981 and 1984 on the site of the former start-finish straight of the historic Nordschleife. It was inaugurated on 12 May 1984. The current 5,148 m layout with 15 corners (10 right, 7 left) dates from 2002, when the Mercedes Arena section was added. The track is 10 to 25 m wide, with 56.7 m of elevation change. It holds FIA Grade 1 homologation and has hosted the F1 German, Luxembourg and European Grand Prix (most recently the 2020 Eifel Grand Prix during the COVID-19 pandemic), DTM, GT Masters, FIA WEC, and since 2007 the famous 24 Hours race, for which the GP circuit is combined with the legendary Nordschleife into a 25.378 km combined layout.

Together with the Nordschleife it forms the 25.378 km combined layout used for the famous ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring with over 200 entries; the Mercedes Arena section, added in 2002, is the signature feature of the modern circuit.
