Circuito do Estoril

The Circuito do Estoril, officially Autódromo Fernanda Pires da Silva, is a racing circuit in Portugal near the town of Cascais on the Portuguese Riviera, about 32 km west of Lisbon. The track was inaugurated on 17 June 1972. The main circuit is 4,182 m long, 10–18 m wide and features 13 corners (9 right, 4 left). Its signature feature is the nearly 1 km long main straight leading into the famous Senna Corner (Parabolica Interior). The circuit hosted the F1 Portuguese Grand Prix from 1984 to 1996. Among its most famous moments are Ayrton Senna's first F1 victory in 1985 and Niki Lauda's third World Championship in 1984. Following reprofiling of the final corner to meet FIM homologation, the track length was reduced to its current 4,182 m in 2000. Today the circuit hosts the Portuguese motorcycle Grand Prix, WSBK, the European Le Mans Series and various other series. Ownership rests with the state holding company Parpública.

Site of Ayrton Senna's first F1 win (1985 Portuguese Grand Prix) and Niki Lauda's third World Championship title (1984); the first corner of the circuit now bears Senna's name.
